Explore My Paintings: Visual Stories Found in Simple Places.

My current body of work is an ongoing series that explores the timeless stories hidden inside temporal things. These paintings center on humble everyday objects: a weathered brush, a stubby pencil, an old bottle cap. I’m drawn to the way simple things hold memory, meaning, and emotion, and how beauty often appears in the places we overlook. Even something as unassuming as a rusty screwdriver can feel like a fragment of a larger narrative. By placing these objects in positions of prominence, they become icons of our shared human experience, evidence of the hands that held them, the lives they shaped, and the quiet moments they once occupied. In painting them, I’m not just depicting objects; I’m returning their stories to the world, shaping a kind of visual poetry from the ordinary. While this series is at the heart of my current work, I’ve explored many genres, mediums and subjects over the years. The common thread is narrative, using objects, symbols, and intentional color as visual metaphor. Some paintings lean playful, like an orange pierced by a screwdriver in Hold the Vodka, while others move toward stillness and introspection, like my series of zen-like rocks meant to evoke feelings of peace and tranquility. I’m continually drawn to the tension between realism and expressionism, and to how that interplay can lend a subject weight, mystery, and a sense of living presence. At its core, my work is an invitation, to slow down, to look longer, and to see the extraordinary hiding in the everyday.
